Abstract: This report summarizes a conference held at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to discuss successful strategies to evaluate communication campaigns. The discussion of public health communication programs, including an examination of special problems, major principles of communication evaluation and alternative evaluation designs also provided an overview of policy communication evaluations, outlining effective strategies and lessons learned.

Abstract: An official at the World Health Organization has criticized the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their methods of funding global antimalaria efforts. Dr. Arata Kochi claims that the foundation’s decision-making processes are closed and internalized, and that scientists may be afraid of questioning the research of other Gates-funded scientists, out of fear of losing Gates Foundation funding themselves. The foundation has responded that it has many ways in which it collects feedback on its global health investments.
